Xin Sijin, the Party Secretary of Wuhan University of Technology, delivered the opening speech. He pointed out that sports are an important way to improve people's health and an important means to meet the people's aspiration for a better life and promote the all-round development of individuals.
All along, the school has been closely focusing on the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, strengthening physical education, deepening the "five-education integration", vigorously developing competitive sports by relying on traditional advantages such as track and field and martial arts, empowering physical education and teaching with artificial intelligence, and building a comprehensive evaluation model for students' physical education, making the management of students' physical health, physical fitness tests and the effectiveness of physical exercise more tangible and accessible.
He hopes that all teachers and students will actively participate in physical exercise, making sports a way of life, and turning the phrase "exercise for an hour every day, work healthily for fifty years, and live happily for a lifetime" into a vivid practice. With strong bodies, tenacious wills, the spirit of hard work and an energetic appearance, they should jointly write a splendid chapter of "What does Wuhan University of Technology do in building a strong country".
After the on-site warm-up session, the heads of various functional departments and colleges of the school, members of the school's high-level basketball team, and Xiong Shiqi, the women's long jump champion of the Hangzhou Asian Games, took the lead. The participating athletes entered the track in an orderly manner.
